AI Video Prompt Cheat Sheet 2026: 20 Copy-Paste Prompts That Actually Work

Everyone has prompts. Almost nobody has a system. This cheat sheet is the system: one universal prompt formula, the model-specific quirks for every major generator in late 2026, and 20 copy-paste prompts field-tested across the formats that actually perform — cinematic, commercial, food, fashion, portrait and viral. Steal freely.

The Universal Prompt Formula

[SHOT] + [SUBJECT] + [ACTION] + [CAMERA] + [LIGHTING] + [STYLE] + [AUDIO]
Block What it does Example words that work
SHOT Framing & lens close-up, medium, wide, macro, aerial, 85mm, anamorphic
SUBJECT Who/what + texture a woman in a silk dress, a matte black perfume bottle, glossy caramel character
ACTION Motion with beats turns toward camera, steam curls upward, fabric caught mid-turn
CAMERA ONE precise move slow push-in, dolly in, orbit right, locked tripod, lateral track
LIGHTING Source + direction + quality golden hour backlight, single hard key, soft window light, neon practicals
STYLE Grade + mood cinematic 35mm, nostalgic film grade, editorial, playful stop-motion
AUDIO Sound design rain and distant traffic, solo violin, sizzling pan, quiet room tone

Two rules: (1) one camera move per shot; (2) never skip AUDIO on audio-native models (Veo 3.1, Kling 4.0).

Model Quirks Cheat Sheet (Late 2026)

  • Veo 3.1 — loves block structure and film vocabulary (“dolly in”, “f/2.8” behave like controls). Best at lip sync: quote dialogue exactly. Always write the AUDIO block.
  • Kling 4.0 — write motion beats for long takes (3–30 s). Name materials (silk, steam, wet asphalt). Use Omni Reference (up to 15 refs) for character consistency; 30 s is the hard cap for inputs too.
  • Seedance 2.5 — image-to-video star. Start from a strong still; lead with atmosphere (rain, mist, reflections); one camera move. Draft cheap, render 4K last.
  • Hailuo 3 / MiniMax H3 — material realism king (water, cloth, hair, food). Texture words + macro setups shine.
  • Wan 3.0 — flexible open-ecosystem workhorse; strong across landscapes and stylized motion.
  • Runway Gen-4 — best when generation is one step of an editing pipeline; iterate with style references.

The 5-Minute Prompt QA Checklist

Before you spend a credit, check:

  1. ✅ One camera move only?
  2. ✅ Lighting has a source and a direction?
  3. ✅ AUDIO block present (where supported)?
  4. ✅ At least one texture/material word (silk, steam, wet, glossy)?
  5. ✅ Mood stated in two words or fewer (“bittersweet”, “playful”)?
  6. ✅ Anything longer than 12 seconds split into motion beats?

If all six pass, render. If not, fix before you burn credits.

FAQ

What is the best prompt structure for AI video? Subject → Action → Camera → Lighting → Style → Audio. One camera move per shot, and always include sound on audio-native models like Veo 3.1 and Kling 4.0.

Why does my AI video ignore half my prompt? Usually over-stuffing: multiple camera moves, three light sources, or no motion beats. Simplify to one clear action and one move, then iterate one block at a time.
